AWARDS AND RECOGNITION
Orange County Bar
Foundation, Inc., is proud of its many
accomplishments for which it
has earned prestigious awards such as:

-
The Disneyland Civic Service Award in 1979, 1980,
1981, and 1982, and the Jack B. Lindquist Award
for its most innovative program of service to the
community in 1997;
-
The award for the Foundation for Improvement of
Justice in 1988 and 1993;
-
The California Youth Authority Sustained Superior
Achievement Award in 1991;
-
The National Juvenile Justice Service Award in
1993;
-
The Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, Department
of Health and Human Services chose SHORTSTOP for a
five-year demonstration and evaluation project in 1992;
-
Singer Gloria Estefan and Sears Roebuck and
Co. selected OCBF programs as the recipient of an
elite grant in 1996;
-
The National Conference on Bar Foundations Award
for Excellence in Public Service Programming in
2001.
-
The National Association of Legal Administrators
awarded Project SELF their National Award for
educational program two years in a row in 2004 and 2005.
-
October 2003 CA Endowment, Weingart and Unihealth
Foundations award grants totaling $375,000 for Stop
Short of Addiction with Brief Strategic Family Therapy
for Latino families. Grants cover two years.

June 2005 received grant award of $100,000 from the
Lumina Foundation, McGabe Grant Fund, for Higher
Education Mentoring. Grant covers two years.
-
July 2005 received grant award of $1.1 million over five
years from the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention to provide HIV Health Education and Risk
Reduction Services based on the evidence based SISTA
model.
-
October 2005 received grant award of $1.2 million over
five years from the Center of Substance Abuse
Prevention to provide Brief Strategic Family Therapy
(an evidence based model) to Latino at risk and re-entry
youth (youth that had previously been incarcerated) and
their families.
-
June 2006 received three year grant award of $42,000
from the Jr. League of Orange County for Higher
Education Mentoring Program.
-
July 2006 received grant award of $130,000 from
Orange County United Way for Shortstop and Stop
Short of Addiction programs. Grant award is each year
for three years.
-
November 2006 received grant award of $25,000 from the
James Irvine Foundation for Higher Education
Mentoring Program.
-
April 2007 received grant award of $1.1 million from the
California Corrections Standard Authority to
provide reentry youth with Youth Transitional
Intervention services. Grant award is each year for
three years.
-
September 2007 received grant award of $35,000 from the
National AIDS Fund for the Hermana Project as
part of their national AIDS Prison Health Initiative.
-
February 2008 received grant award $25,000 from the
Office of Women’s Health as part of collaboration
with Behavioral Assessment, Inc. for the Chica’s
Project.
-
March 2008 received grant award of $5,000 from MAC
for the Hermana Project as part of their VIVA GLAM
Campaign.
-
March
2008 received grant award of $4,000 from Orange
County Bar Association Charitable Fund for Project
SELF.
